We present practical information about verified assistance points across various provinces (voivodeships)—a list of locations where those fleeing the war can find concrete help.

What Assistance is Available in Poland for Citizens of Ukraine?
On 24 February 2022, Russia’s full-scale armed invasion of Ukraine began, which resulted in an unprecedented influx of foreign nationals into Poland. In the first year of the war, over 1.37 million people from Ukraine arrived in our country and were granted temporary protection. Although this number grew less rapidly in subsequent years, a total of over 2 million Ukrainian citizens have been covered by protection to date. Not all of them remained in Poland permanently—according to government data, currently (as of February 2025) close to 1 million Ukrainians are utilising temporary protection. It is worth noting that these are predominantly women and children.
Naturally, in the face of such a humanitarian crisis, efficient and multi-dimensional assistance was essential. This support allowed the migrants not only to survive with dignity but also to find their footing in Polish reality and begin to rebuild their lives. Indeed, various institutions, organisations, and ordinary people immediately launched wide-ranging and highly diversified aid efforts.
In this article, we have gathered the most important locations across Poland where refugees from Ukraine can currently turn for assistance. Below are general guidelines regarding the scope of support available at specific places:
- Consulates: passport assistance, civic affairs, legal support, mediation in contacts with authorities.
- Voivodeship (Provincial) Offices: accommodation, registration of stay, support for people with disabilities, information on social benefits.
- Hospitals: free medical care, inpatient and outpatient treatment, first aid, vaccinations.
- Pharmacies: dispensing prescriptions, subsidies for medicines, access to basic medications.
- Integration, Cultural and Information Centres: information, legal and psychological support, assistance with daily matters, Polish language instruction, adaptation courses, social integration.
- Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs): counselling, legal and psychological support, language courses, assistance with job and housing searches, integration activities, material and medical aid.
- Material and Social Assistance Points: food, clothing, hygiene products, financial support, assistance with finding accommodation.
- Labour Offices: unemployment registration, job placement, vocational guidance, training, support with finding employment.
Please Note! To benefit from most forms of support, specific conditions must be met. Most commonly, these are: holding Ukrainian citizenship, arrival in Poland after 23 February 2022, and possession of a document confirming legal stay (e.g., a passport, a Border Guard certificate, or the PESEL UKR number).
